Re: New player returning! (Trying a Cube)
Yeah that's a good idea Chaosnake. I was originally thinking I'd even have a small pile of some neutral characters such as Brine Fiend or watever that people could fill their ranks with. Back on topic, I'll post up the revised Warlord list shortly, and we'll go from there. =)

Re: New player returning! (Trying a Cube)
A few thoughts as I'm putting cards together: 1. The side pool of starters: is 36 level 1's and 24 level 2's enough for 8 players? That would be 6 and 4 per faction. These are just the "backups" - there would be starters available in the draft pool.
2. Given the shortened deck, does the environment favor blitz? Combo? Or does it depend on the draft/cardpool?
3. Level distribution: higher for devs and derfs, lower for freeks and elves, mixed for throgs and mercs, yes? I have much more detailed breakdowns but I'll post them from my computer later (on my phone now)

Re: New player returning! (Trying a Cube)
Your second point is what makes the format a little uneasy to me, Oremm. I don't see any way around it favoring blitz.

Re: New player returning! (Trying a Cube)
Yea...I was thinking about how best to incorporate the following decktypes/playstyles and came up with this: 1. Draw/Combo - Have combo elements in the cardpool - short deck means less need for draw. 2. Uber - Short deck means a fast environment - cardhunt will be essential 3. Cavalry - Speed elements will be essential to offset the short-deck environment 4. Control - Short deck = short games. Card-draw and global effects a must for Control. 5. Blitz - already favored by the environment/format? Here's my preliminary breakdowns of level distribution: Devs/Derfs: Lvl.1 - 10 Lvl.2 - 5 Lvl.3 - 10 Lvl.4 - 15 Lvl.5 - 5 FreeK/Elf: Lvl.1 - 15 Lvl.2 - 15 Lvl.3 - 10 Lvl.4 - 5 Lvl.5 - 5 Merc/Throg: Lvl.1 - 10 Lvl.2 - 10 Lvl.3 - 15 Lvl.4 - 10 Lvl.5 - 5 Reasoning: Every faction needs to be able to draft the majority of their starters, very few decks will need to drop 5's in such a fast environment. Groups of 5 just to make things easier. Devs/Derfs skew higher because that's where their best characters are. Elves/FreeKs skew lower for the same reason. Mercs are all over the map, and Throgs have varied playstyles also. The Chosen are not cut out for this format at all.

Re: New player returning! (Trying a Cube)
So I'm still putting together the cube, and I had a few questions on cards that aren't available on the visual spoiler.
If anybody could provide stats/card text for the following cards that would be awesome: Cone of Cold, Attack of Opportunity, Cardinal Bromin, Kiyar Undying, Dexton Feldark, Jarz'an, Rugal...I think that's it.
Thanks!

They are available. Just click on D for Details next to the name and you will get the text.

Re: New player returning! (Trying a Cube)

Maybe if I need help I can post a single section of it, such as [Level 3 Wizard spells] or something. Thoughts? Comments?

Re: New player returning! (Trying a Cube)
I've got a very similar Warlord list for my version The only WL I would change there is Etra, who lost a LOT of power when the Forced March rule was changed. Some changes to the format I think are necessary to ensure the ability to draft a legal deck: The first 2 boosters should be 21 cards each: 1 pull from each Item/Action pile and 2 pulls from each Faction pile. The final booster can be 1 pull from all 15 piles. Using this formula a 600-card cube will support 10 players. I have broken it down into the following piles: 1 for each faction, 1 for each class' items, 1 for each class' actions, 1 for classless items and actions. Each pile must contain a minimum of 30 cards (to support 10 players).

I'm not sure which rule you are referring to, can you elaborate?

Re: New player returning! (Trying a Cube)
Through the course of Epic Edition, there was a rule that whenever a stunned character fell forward a rank, they would have to take a wound. (This was called the 'forced march' rule because it sort of mirrored the card of that name.) Without this rule in effect, Etra has difficulty killing anyone, because she has no way to do 'free' wounds any more.
Regardless though, you'd have to draft a LOT of Druids to make Etra work anyway, so I'd nix her as well.

Re: New player returning! (Trying a Cube)
Okay, personally, I think if you want to do this Cube, you should try to make it competitive (duh), but stay in faction lines, here would be my suggestions: Devs: Commander Kaiten(need 1 Paladin warlord), Dallen(need 1 seer warlord), Madriga, Lord Kestrel(need 1 Illusionist), Dhamir il-Maliq(need 1 Fighter/Wizard) Dwarves: Grace Hearthpride(Built in healing), Sjonegaard(Seer/Gargoyle), Ahdi(Barbarian), Trespass(Assassin), Theck Rockbender Elves: Thekem Netheryn(Necromancer), Keira Syneri, Ahdre(Scout/Bard), Serolia Calix (w/her errata)(Seer), Etra/Khilkhameth (Druid) Freeks: Beastmaster Eladric(Druid), Sir Lucien(Paladin), Keziah Firehair(Bard), Captain Alera(Ranger), Albrecht (Multi-class strike generator) Mercenaries: Shah'syss (Monster), Xiathe(won't have problems drafting characters), The Nemesis (Necromancer), Taisa(Assassin), Alissara(Summoner), Dorath Sa'dul(Illusionist) Nothrogs: Scyrax (Siege), Zultan Bloodletter (very nothrog wizard), Krenthor Gouge (Barbarian), De'zicrah (Scout), Grantuk Rageblade (Ranger) and even The Chosen: all 5 of their current warlords
I could help getting a card-base together too, providing in-faction, but strong cards for each faction/class. As far as a break down, I would do something like this: Devs: 8 1st level, 8 2nd, 10 3rd, 12 4th, 4 5th Dwarves: 11, 9, 9, 9, 4 (or 3 5th, and Avinoam Blightlifter) Elves: 12, 12, 11, 6, 1 Freeks: 12, 10, 10, 8, 2 Throgs: 12, 11, 10, 7, 2 Mercenaries: 10, 10, 9, 7, 3, 2, 1 The Chosen: 10, 9, 10, 9, 4
