Post Will there be more sets for Warlord CCG?
Hi,

I'm the webmaster of Trade Cards Online, where Warlord is listed for trading, discussing, and even online playing. But recently I have noticed that the official website is down, and that there have been no new releases in a very long time. As we classify games as new or old in our site, depending on whether they are being actively supported or not, I would need to know if I should move Warlord to the Old Games section.
Please advice.
Thanks a lot.

Hi,

The official Warlord site was temporarily unavailable during X.
The last APS was produced End November 2011 so that's recent products.
The license from Phoenix Interactive will not be renewed in March.
But the license question and the future of the game still pending for the moment.
There will be yet new promo cards released in 2012, and the product still available.
So a little bit soon perhaps for your classification ........

Best

Eric

Please disregard what magicsalesman posted, and just classify Warlord as "old."

Warlord is dead as [Censor: poo]. Put it under old. If AEG does anything with it, it'll be for games that are not related in the least bit.

I see there are different opinions on this...! :)

May you please confirm for me at least what the last printed set has been? We have "Ancient Lore" listed as the last expansion set. Is this correct?

Thanks a lot for your help.

Yes, Ancient Lore is the last expansion.

Currently, there are no plans to continue releasing Warlord. If it is re-released down the road it might have the same name but will most likely not be compatible with any previous material.

Yeah, but one of them doesn't count. There's the opinion of the rational, sane, majority, and then there's the inane opinion of one loud Belgian fanboy. Take your pick.

Except don't. The game is totally dead.

Please disregard what Nihilistiskism said :D

I have said a "a little bit soon perhaps for your classification".

There's 3 things that you must take as observation:

1) There still yet promo cards that will be released in 2012, products still available.

2) There will be yet a Winter Campaign 2012.

3) And the the most important point :
we still all waiting for a official AEG confirmation to the player base that there will be never no new products for Warlord.
Because :
- AEG don't want to produce it again.
- AEG don't want to give again the license to someone else.

So For me it can be classify as "dead" : January, 1 2013.

Logic........

The game is inactive, as the company that currently owns it is not releasing new content at this time. Magicsalesman has an agenda for keeping the game on any active list.

Don't have any agenda....
I just follow the LOGIC. (See above my previous post "why").
I think it's just a little bit to soon to play as a "Gravedigger".

Uh, no. You have a very CLEAR agenda above and beyond being Arne's #1 fan, which is your hold as a secondary market dealer. ANYTHING you say, good or bad, is tainted by the bias that you have a financial stake in how this game is perceived by the less-informed masses. You are, at best, being shady with your wine-and-dine good news bit, and, going with another perception, downright reminiscent of a confidence scammer in your representations for this game made to new players and general information seekers.

You can hide behind your absurdly thin veil of purported "logic" all you want, but it doesn't make you any less an opportunist trying to keep sales up for his online store.

With all due respect Eric, you are a relative newcomer to the Warlord community and, while your enthusiasm and optimism could be considered admirable, experience proves that it is largely misplaced.

Warlord had a chance to come back to life; 4th edition started out strong (certainly a lot stronger than I had expected.) But Arne has permanently tarnished the brand; making Warlord a two time failure. Anyone in their right mind would spend their money elsewhere if they are shopping for a game to license.

If nothing else, the Warlord community is full of tenacious sons of [Censor: dog] who have a hard time letting things go. For the next three to five years the Warlord community will still exist as a player-driven entity.

The Warlord setting may return at some point with updated (or new) mechanics; or the "rank and file" system may drive a new game entirely. But the days of commercially produced Warlord cards that are compatible with the original game are over.

I'm quite sure logic would lead one to assume AEG wouldn't produce anything, ya know, since they stopped producing it once already. And they stopped producing it when there were more than 40 people playing the game. There is no chance you'll see new cards from them. Accept the fact you made a poor investment and cut your loses. Magic is always going to sell, so I'd suggest moving your focus to that.

- Will not answer to Nihil, I let him as always in his "special flowers perfume divagation"

- For DP, Warlord is a terrific game and owns as well as terrific player/friend community, I was happy (and I still happy) to provide friends and guys that have put their trust in me and I'll try to continue as the best as I can....

- I understand you perfectly Sir bonefish.
The Thunderstone game from AEG used already some Warlord pic.
I don't talk about the facts and the history or that kind of stuff.

I just say that if there's still yet new cards that will be released, products yet available and a forthcomming campaign in 2013, I don't consider it already dead.
We have yet the time to enjoy yet this game during some month so it's just a little bit to soon to say "RIP" for me.
Even if it will considered perhaps in the future as a "dead game", there' still yet something living for the moment.

Finally I'm feeling before a "euthanasia" problem when I read some posts....
It's just the logic way of things goes for me.
Things that still yet leaving (even with difficulties and pain), will have the time to be buried on the right moment... and like a zombie .... I will stay present :D

A dead game is a dead game. Star Wars CCG has been dead forever, but a few faithful still play it. We'll still play it. I'll keep some decks. I might even buy old stuff off eBay when I get bored and make a day out of it. But this game is, in fact, dead. Please don't try and make people think otherwise. If it makes you feel better, tell him it's an "old game" now.
