Please do a search on this forum for this subject. Numerous people have commented on it. This is an intellectual property that can be mined for years. It is valuable just as it is. There will be no bargain sell off unless AEG goes under, and then I think z would hold on to it for nostalgia.

I don't need to read a thread to understand intellectual properties long term earnings value. If I were Z I would hold onto it as well. He really made something particularly special with this game. does thunderstone have warlords characters in it? I almost bought it and peeps at my game store ushered me towards a different game in the same genre.

I don't think any of the names are used, but the art certainly is.

I like shallower pools so making another base set w/ a few expansions sounds great. Looking forward to hashing out the details as much as a player as we end up able to contribute. And running Dragonlord/Daemonlord challenges for all and sundry in support of local events. Who knows maybe even a Stormwraithlord/Lycanthropelord/etc. will be able to be in our future now too.

A thought that me and my friends have, was to make another 4e set, comprised of 100 or so cards that are completely from prior sets into the 4e environment.

I think that could keep 4e afloat for awhile and give us players a chance to see what may happen with warlord's licensing.

Again, just a thought. Don't flame plz. :)

IMO open formats get better after a game is discontinued because the "power" cards are 35 cents. But a new format to supplement it could be fun. Is the purpose of this just to keep intrest alive among the people that still play?

Yes - We still want Open and Ancients to be played, absolutely. It's all about options.

History has proven that, without some sort of governing body providing structure, people will stop playing CCGs once they're discontinued. This is one reason why the original Star Wars TCG and pre-WW V:tES enjoyed a second life as a "player run" game while VS. and the Star Trek TCG quickly faded away.

If there is one thing i learned from ascension players, its that gamers need structure.

I'm in.

That said, may I suggest that 4E be expanded rather than a full reset? By and large, this has been a very balanced arc, in my opinion. Most of the cards have the new templating and wording. And it has all of the Chosen (unless you want to can them as a faction).

I agree with this. While there are only a few of us in my playgroup, three of the players are brand new to the game (5 months or so). They don't have any pre-4th edition cards and it doesn't seem to be easy to obtain them other than as pricey singles. One of the most alluring aspects of 4th edition to these new players was the fact they could purchase the whole shebang and essentially get all of the cards in the format not including promos.
