 Re: Latest Rendition of Gethseme
Not even a single reply? Has anyone else run Gethseme at all? I know Boarder Control swears by a completely different version running only MatI and OwtB in her. I took his advice on lowering her AC so she could take more hits and therefor let out more damage. Anybody have any thoughts?

 Re: Latest Rendition of Gethseme
Edit: more stuff Remove the brawls, either for Sky, Profit (Alternate start vs freeks, wich can litterally destroy amber starting) or Atone (i'd find room for atone anyway tbh) Lower rings to 1 (not that much cleric stuff to recurse), and include either +1 Replenish or 1 OwtB Remove 1 token 2 tzin for 2 weapons (Celestial Flame or Dueling Saber and 1 shield ( Frostscale is amazing, really) Optional -1 helm +1 shield Edit2: I'd consider switching alltogheter to a profit start so: -3 braw -3 amber gargoyle -2 Mend +0/1 Wall +1/2 Arla Favorsight +2 Sky +1 Mentor Additional options: -1 Fridgeir -1 Vise +2 Atone

 Re: Latest Rendition of Gethseme
I knew you'd bite! You're not fond of the Brawls? They have terrible stats, albeit, but can defend clutch strikes away from Gethseme. Sometimes I'm not in a good position to take a 3 wound smack or if multiple 2+ wound strikes are coming in, he can ease the pain a little. His stats are terrible, but since he comes into play in rank 4, he can equip the RotS (which gives him +1 level to cast spells), Lightning's Iron, and Tears of the Storm which is nice. I've had some damn lucky rolls with his death react, but he basically just serves as a shield. His medicine hits every once in awhile also, which is nice. As for what to replace him with: Sky going back in is an interesting idea, but I think I'll pass on him and Atone though since the back ranks tend to get cluttered as is and Atone is basically a crappy action. If I was going a little more offensive I would put him in, but this is a train not a nascar. The Profits are probably the most likely of the suggestions, but it depends on the meta. I keep a few cards with me just in case I want to switch up in tournies, and I think Profit will be one that I keep for just that scenario. If I'm at a tourney where I predict the need for Profit over Amber in a few of the games, I'll definitely switch for Brawl. Good tip! I really, REALLY, like drawing the Rings and they're not Unique, so sometimes I can get some major mileage out of casting Holy Might 3+ times in a round. Also, Dwarves have really crappy skill so having two out will usually mean I get back 1 spell per round. I really like OwtB, though. I had considered it over Fists of Kor. Edit: I have run Frost Scale and Xantin's Ward before. I find that with Dueling Saber, Xantin's Ward is the better of the two. Frost Scale never did much for me, but I see its usefulness for sure. Dueling Saber + Camel is pretty nifty, but Celestial Flame + OwtB + Camel is better, so I'd go with Celestial Flame over the two. Fridgerator does the same thing as Brawl - Defends the big strikes. That's the reason the Rapid Regenerations, Lightnings Iron, Stealth, and Defenders are there - there are so many huge strikes in 4E. Against a lot of decks I still manage to lose Gethseme just because they put out too big of strikes (Getrax with Dragon Buckler, Goza, 2 or more Venom Vines + Hag hitting Gethseme, etc). It's dangerous out there, so the defend is almost always useful. It's easier to do damage in 4E (and typically the focus of every deck) than it is to heal. I've had very good results from Vise - It's like a mini Ssthess Sutek King. The start issue does keep me wondering, though. I've seen games where I don't lose a single Amber on into the 4th and 5th turns, but I've seen games where they all go out in the first turn. Profit/Wall seems less good in the long run, but more stable. I'll have to play test it. Thanks for the feedback. Feel free to defend any of your suggestions.

 Re: Latest Rendition of Gethseme
The start Bobby has, and the one I really liked from the NJ winter campaign is 3xProfit Arla/Wall Gethseme
I don't see Mend being very useful, and Profit's stats are amazing for a level 1 (considering the standard used to be 13pts between ATK/AC and he's 14). Arla will provide the ATK boost to make you pretty much hit anything.
Also, I get where you're going with the cleric items, but I think you'd be better off with items for Gethseme.

 Re: Latest Rendition of Gethseme
Yeah that's a really tempting start. The only reason I have the Mend/Garg going is because I got completely swindled in the first turn every game the last tourney I played. The 2hp on Mend was a big deal and keeping the Gargs went a long way toward setting up my back ranks with support. That and the +3 from stunned Mends made for a nice little stretch of orders in the first turn. I would average 3-5 attacks off my gargoyles. I think it's worth testing in the upcoming Winter Campaign though. I'll try it out. Arla is definitely the beast from the east in Gethseme. I can just never keep her scrawny butt alive.
Edit: I saw a Gethseme deck showed up. That was you? Mind sharing a tourney report? Frontline is always a rough place to be.

 Re: Latest Rendition of Gethseme
I'm gonna try to post a rough tourney report later; I've got a bad memory and I went 2-6, so some of it is self-repression The deck I used is the one that Boarder_Control built. I think the only newer cards he added was Surge; everything else was like a year old.

 Re: Latest Rendition of Gethseme
It might have. I did lose a few games where my ranks just fell apart due to DC saves. And the match I faced Ryan Morningstar I lost anyway.

Re: ... still trying to make Gethseme work...
I still have my Gethseme deck built. It's not updated with any new cards yet, as I still don't have them in and I'm not sure what I want to include or not (Backbiter is up there though, wound myself, remove it, attack again! ). I don't play her as much as I play most of my other decks though. When I do play her I want her in the front with a little protection (walls and/or scale mail or something) then start swinging away. It's a pretty standard Gethseme deck. Starting Army: Gethseme Steelshard2x Wall3x ProfitCharacters: Fridgeir (Don't like him that much, but he's not that bad either) 3x Sky3x Brawl3x SurgePinion's Vice3x Arla FavorsightMentorKohn Peacehand3x AtoneActions: 3x Blood for BloodFancy Footwork (This needs to change! I thought I ran at least 2 of this until I made this post XD) 3x Bloodthirsty3x Backstab3x Zaina's Treachery2x StubbornItems: 2x Scale Mail3x Griffon of Misear3x Tzin's Blades2x Bruntor's HelmMy deck still needs quite a bit of work though.

Definately double up on Mentor - too good not to, regardless of having an outlet for discarding cards.
I'm using the same batch of Surge, Brawl, Kohn, Mentor, and Atone - and I have few problems with the Holy Mights.

Re: ... still trying to make Gethseme work...
I'm working on a new gethseme deck nwo that i got newer cards. Pretty much going more defensive items liek pyre that new armor. Multi wounding is no longer a problem with savvy and wrath. Replenish is prolly a better choice if your going to run healing. you get rid of two wounds and a striek lets you sit there and win. Grimmure is the money in the deck lets you keep on hitting when your getting hit. Start a wall and arla and run arlas in your deck.
