Post Homebrew Dragonlord
Just messing around and i thought i'd post this. Havent seen a lot of stuff on this end of the forum in a while.
Anyway, i've always liked the idea of dwarfs and dragons getting together, and i hear that's going on now, so i made this dude. dont have a picture, but i couldnt make the cards even if i did.

Otik Soulforge
Atk +9/+6/+5 ac 17
Skill +12 hp 4
Level 8 good classless dwarf
Dragon lord
Otik is both a rogue and a fighter
Starts the game with Axroth equipped.
Your dragons are non unique dwarfs and may equip one item regardless of class restrictions. Order: once per turn, discard a card. Move a wound from Otik to an adjacent dragon.

Athrox
Lv 9 classless steed.
Dragon
+2 ac
+1 hp
Order: spend Axroth, move forward or backward one rank.
Order: once per turn equip an item in your discard pile to a character you control who could legally equip it.

Special rules: if Otik is beaten, the winning player receives both Otik and Axroth. Both Otik and Axroth may be used to challenge medusa lords.

Weird on a lot of levels, i know. But Warlord could use some more weird these days. Not only is this a dragonlord with a faction, but he converts his dragons to a faction. There's never been a dwarf dragon lord, even in the art, which made me kind of upset. And he's a good guy.
I also figured (assuming this was printed in my fantasy world) that the availablity to use two cards for two seperate challenges might up the popularity for challenging dragon lords. The steed isnt that hard to equip either, and i think fairly good for any warlord. A nice little theoretical promo.
Just a bit of fun.

The 2 additional strikes might be a little OP, especially since he could easily get a King's Lady and it's GG, QQ for any opponent. If he needed the 2 AC and 1 HP why not not just put that stuff on his statline and have an item with some more flavor? Doesn't seem dwarven or dragon...try to get some sort of item manipulation ability on him or an ability that let's his dragons equip items and then readies them like mentor. What else do dwarves do, stun and unstun stuff to pay/avoid costs, you could put some of that on there. A little less face smash, more flavor.

It's a beating of a character, I'm not trying to be all negative, I apologize if it seems that way. The card just doesn't say "I'm a Dwarf" at all.

Also that order needs to be a react or order: Opt discard a card: move a wound to an adjacent dragon.

Not at all, i think you're actually right on all accounts.
I was never a huge fan of the dwarf item affinity, but looking back i think that's one of the main abilities that define a card as dwarfy. i was also dumb as a rock and couldnt think of flavor abilities. If it's going to be the only card of its type with a faction, it should enbody the faction and its abilities.
To be honest, i didnt even think of other cards that could be played with him. King's Lady, etc. I dont know why.
how would you work out the item equipping and stun/unstun abilities?

Why not do something new and make him a fighter/wizard- technomancer? You could keep the wound redirect with the discard ability and then have the ability order: equip an item from your discard pile to an adjacent dragon ignoring class requirements.

Is that specific enough to ignore the "may not equip items clause"? Since he equips the item to them they're not actually "equipping an item" right?

You might have to include the text "So-and-so's dragons may equip one item even if they cannot normally equip items" or something like that.

Consider the text on Poisoned Talons as a reference.

How's that? I wanted it to seem like the dragon would be equipping allies from his horde, as opposed to Otik being an artificer. This also gives Axroth more to do.

drasek resplendent has the texts "your dragons enter play in rank 3"
thats what makes him a dragon lord, unless its going to be in the challenge rules this guy has no way to even bring the dragons into play.

what had you intended?

you have a fine point, and one that i'd overlooked entirely. Rank 3 seems to be the standard unless someone else can think of a better flavored action.
perhaps "React: Before putting a dragon into play, spend x items in your army. The dragon enters play X ranks lower than normal."?

how to fix IMO ^^^^

its a dragonlord... don't be so hesitant to make him BROKEN lol.
drasek resplendent is going to put Pyrothraxas ready in the front rank in 2 actions, so dropping a dragon 5-6 ranks lower per turn (assuming you have that many items) needs to be beefed up a smidge

i put the "may" and "up to" in there in order t make sure the dragon lands whever you want in your own ranks. dont want to be forced to drop a level 7 dragon in rank... oh idk, -2...
although i suppose you could do that if you want:
"they may enter play in an opposing formation" MUAHAHAHAHAHA!!! *cough* i mean.... yah...

=> I like the thought of this: his starting steed is a steed, dragon, construct (He made his dragon mount)

=> Allow him the ability to equip up to 1 wizard item (golem manual = construct dragons = buffed stats)

=> The mount has a once per game order to detach from the DL an be put into play adjacent to him as a lev 7 character, give it 3 melee strikes (roughly +10, +9, +8), 18 AC, 10 skill, 4 HP, may not equip items (of course your ability allows him to equip 1 still)

=> The steed, once becoming a character, has a react once per turn to redirect a strike or action targeting the DL to the dragon i.e. auto defend (while in the same rank), he also has an order once per turn to move forward or backward one rank.
