LoP going poison style.......I like what you're doing here but I think you should focus it more. Don't know if it'll work but you've caught my attention and I might give this a try. I'll let you know what I come up with and we can share some ideas.

BTW, has anyone mentioned that when building a specific warlord in the most current environment that it's actually better to post the list in the corresponding encampment? Gets more exposure from folks who actually play it that way.

Post Re: Help with Lady of Pain
that's not necessarily true. As much of a loyalist as I am, I try to avoid the Dev. encampment like the plague because it's mostly filled with people who think they are The Storm's [Censor: poo] when it comes to building Dev. decks, and I'm sick of seeing Ghed Nuri and Meet at the Inn in deck lists for Inquisitor Dmitr, and being told that Tortoise Shield is a bad card for Commander Kaiten because he should never run to the front rank, or being told that Brymin of the Marches is the bee's knees because of random instances of incredibly good fortune.

Or you know, just...people not being able to support solid arguments, in general. The Faction Encampments are much less about "help my deck" than they are about "look how awesome my deck is! NO [Censor: Quack!] YOU! YOU HAVE NO [Censor: Quack!] CLUE! HOW DARE YOU OFFER ADVICE!?! WHAT?!? YES I KNOW I ASKED FOR IT, BUT WHAT I MEANT WAS "BOW DOWN BEFORE MY AWESOME DECK CONCEPT!!!!!!1111one!!one!!11!"

I'm much more inclined to poke my head in here, because I think here is where I'm least likely to get frustrated by the myopic vision of timmy-kin, and where I'm probably able to do the most good. ;-)

All I know is this is a deck strat and combo forum, it seems obvious to me that asking for combos and strats for a deck belong here.

Man, why you gotta bring RACE into this? Don't you want to believe in a world that's truly colorblind?

Alright, I've got something that's alot more focused than the current list. Good? I don't know about that, if I were serious about it I'd try it with Taisia first.....but you said you weren't concerned with winning tournaments so here ya go:

Characters:

Tyyphera x3
Undead Sahaugin x3
Zara x3
Orlanon x2
Soulless Scavenger x1
Shadith Glyn x2
Amatria Tansiq x2
Nothiel Elestra x3
Moldering Cur x3
Severed of Bone x2

The character base is designed to assist your strategy while giving you some utility as well. Most of the characters have 2hp to give you some time (because this is inherently a slower strategy) as well as some utility. Nothiel gives you discard hate, he moves your warlord, and buffs your other dudes. Moldering Cur gives you decent (buffable) attacker, Severed gives you some stun, Zara can play the poison actions all day, Tyyphera lowers skill, and Sahuagin....well he's just the nuts for this strategy. Orlanon is just for kicks you could drop him for something that's less conditional if you wanted.

Actions/Items:

Sting of The Lionfish x2
Tainted Wine x3
Blowgun/Serpentlash x2
Gloves of the Fang x2
Hungry Spirits x3
Altus' Cloak x3
Cloudracer x3
Giant Toad x3
Heartstrings x2
Misear Diplomacy x2

Pick your poison? :rimshot:

Because we can't squeeze in all the protection and redirection that LoP might normally have we have to make sure that what we do have is the best. Altus' Cloak and Heartstrings fit that bill. We also can't afford the amount of movement that I would normally prefer but don't worry, I took care of that when I included Nothiel Elestra. Blowgun and Serpentlash are pretty meh, but they do offer a convenient way to dish out the poison trait so you can put some other stuff to good use. If I had to choose between the 2 I'd go with the wounding and range of Blowgun Gloves of the Fang give you a convenient way to hold actions over til you need them. Tainted Wine, Misear Diplomacy, and Hungry Spirits can deal the pain. Don't forget that Zara can play both Mis Dip and Hungry Spirits to great effect. Sting of the Lionfish is actually pretty amazing if they already have the poison trait I like to save it for the react.

I am a fan of testing my decks no matter how bad they are, I also like your take although I do not have Moldering Cur so I might replace that with something but I will test yours out as well. thanks :)

Strong deck (thanks for the card tags, we all know I don't play this game enough to know what cards do. ;-))

I'd lose Sting of the Lionfish and Orlanon. They are both too conditional for my tastes.

For some extra punch in place of Sting of the Lionfish I'd put in 2x Chill's Razor. Blowgun definitely over Serpentlash.

I'd also probably insist on a 3rd Severed of Bone and a The Sable Knight in place of the 2x Orlanon. The Sable Knight is wicked good in The Lady of Pain for the static initiative bonus (which is important for her) and also the ability to throw down to orders for the tempo cost of 1.

But, yeah, that looks pretty damn solid.

Chill's Razor is a great idea. I was just looking at stuff in the spoiler so I completely missed it.

What's the stats on that unit anyway?

Sable Knight is hilariously awesome, I play it in my Drasek along with Takson the Intricate. You could almost make the arguement to run it in every deck that can support a 4th rank. Agree on 3rd Severed on Bone.

I'm gonna playtest this. The only thing I see lacking is anti-planar (with DC's that might not be a concern) and maybe some item removal. Steady Aim was high on my list of potential includes. Have to see how it goes before making adjustments.

Got some testing done.

The deck worked amazingly well. I played the changes that Nihil suggested with the exception of Chill's razor, which I couldn't procur and the TO did not allow proxies. Nothiel Elestra and Altus' Cloak were MVP. In several games I went back 2 ranks to get the cloak and it was worth it every time. The 2hp utility characters allowed me the time and stability to do so.

As far as cards I would ditch:

Tainted Wine: Takes more than one card and tempo to make it good. Far to conditional, it never did anything for me. There just aren't enough cards that interact with something having the poison trait for this card to be good right now.

Blowgun: See above. It gets better with Altus' Cloak but still, I always found myself wishing it was something else.

Steady Aim would definately replace at least 2 of those.

Yeah, If I were going to try poisoning stuff again I might actually replace Blowgun with Serpentlash. Much more likely that I was going to hit something with a melee strike than them failing the check on Blowgun. I really wanted a weapon that was giving me some more punch but rogues don't have alot of good options.

Chill's Razor is the best replacement but they're not easy to come by these days. :(
