Post Re: Trench's AOE Toolbox (Open)
I am not sure he needs to, and baiting him like that won't work. It is not a mental exercise, really, to realize he is not a good warlord. However, that should not, and probably won't, deter you from playing him as your warlord. Just don't expect glorious things from the deck that are achieved better out of a different warlord's deck. I like Crucin Bascar, but a deck that runs him as a warlord is just not as good as a Tavis Jape deck built on the same principle. Do I run Jape? No, not unless I want to play an alignment abuse deck. Do I expect to win with my deck? Not more or as much as a Jape deck (or any other deck, really), but I still pilot him. You should have the same attitude and ask for access to the Jank forum, where any deck with this guy should exist.

Now, that said, if I were to be pressed upon to build a strategy around this guy, I would find a way to equip Martyr's Hide to him or Duri, being me I would play Green Dragon Inn and I would include one or two copies of your In Death Ground for use agains range strikers. Mentor and Supply, and Nodwick. Wand of Negation needs to be worked around, as does other item hate.

It wasn't a serious post, just messing with Nihil.

I've been thinking a great deal about buying enough time to Martyr's Hide + Firewisp Orb to create a sort of super Duty at a later point in the game. I have a rough outline in mind.

Offense: Duri Earthwalker + Alholland Brambe/Rage Collar

Defense: Dust Gargoyle + Martyr's Hide + Firewisp Orb + Potion of Blurring (Belt of Champions can enable Trench to do the same)

Utility: Mentor, Supply, Door to the World, Kor's Banner, Nodwick

Any of the Rogue Warlords does that better, faster, and stronger.

Have you ever seen the Martyr's Hide + Firewisp Orb ever been used to create a win condition Nihil?

There isn't a win condition, there, just a safeguard system for your choice of win conditions, but, yes, Martyr's Hide has always been pretty stupidly powerful. Being able to drag strikes and actions off the support characters is big.

That would probably work in my priam ironsoul. Pain conduit + Figurine of protection with a Nepheline Gargoyle in the front with both the hide and the firewisp orb.

I guess avinoam blightlifter will carry the Conduit alone then... In other news 3x bastion + 2x Hymn is a solid start for Trench. I think incorporating a strong low level suite of characters and transitioning into a midgame Uber would be solid.

The character base I've been running with is

Considering +1 savvy for duri multi wounding.
1x supply
1x door to the world
1x mentor
1x drea nexus
3x mountain
3x strength
3x Martyr
3x Darkness/3x balance
3x Duri earthwalker

I think 3x meet at the inn and 3x exhaustion should go in the deck for acceleration and utility.

3x Scimitar of fire
3x rage collar
3x ceremonial shield
3x makers way
1x kors banner

Meet at the inn is a bad bad bad card. Back Alley Tavern is superior if you need card draw, but Loyalty's Reward is probably better.

Would Dragon's Hoard be good for card draw as well then?

Back Alley Tavern is strictly better unless you're killing a dragon. In what you listed, you want Loyalty's Reward, though.

I suppose ill return to the drawing board. Card draw most likely wouldn't push the deck closer to being viable, if I could get a 40% win ratio I would be happy l.
