I'm glad this community is small enough that we don't have the dedicated efforts of a slashfic writer.

Post Re: Loose ends
Having thought about it a little (I've been off Warlord for almost four years, it takes a while for all the confusion to seep up from the depths of my brain), here are some of things that griped me the most:

The Broken Earth. Did it eventually decide in favor of the Dwarves, or against them? NOBODY WILL EVER KNOW. Granted, there are still Gargoyles seeing print, so that's a clue, but dag.

Does anyone else recall the Heroes of Heroes Gambit? A bunch of low-level characters called together by Yedraw (hey, why is he the only Mentalist The Prisoner brought back from the dead? Is the Prisoner really Kamatayon, something related to Kamatayon and Kasugoan, or something unrelated - ST members made claims that backed up all three possibilities. And did he die again when Mekk'Iah's crew cleaned up on the Lords and Mentalism vanished? What about killing Emaline and Ossay?) to find out a secret about Kerebrus? Their story never ended, though eventually someone who appeared to be a possessed and evil version of Kerebrus showed up, so maybe that was the secret. And now, of course, Kerebrus is back... and the heroes are still gone.

Why did everyone decide to go to the Islands of Light and Shadow? What, exactly, did The Nemesis do during its brief control of the Temple Of Lore? Did Malrog die after Stolen Destinies?

Hey, wait, I recall some of the classic "it's in the RPG" topics: Why did Slayer give Euain the Orb, and when will he try to retrieve it? Isadran worships Teufeltiger - why has he not made contact to secure their army of assassins to use against Vycheslav? What the [Censor: Quack!] did Signon actually do? And was he trying to contain the Storm, or not?

Alright, that should be enough for now.

Sharing Old Frustrations,
The Medusan Exile

P.S. Is TallieSin Talespinner?

Pretty sure Taliesin is *not* Talespinner.

I thought the answer to Slayer giving the orb to his apprentice was "To see what would happen". Few super powerful artifacts are free of nasty side effects, so Euain was a ginuea pig.

And Signon did indeed control the Storm. He journeyed into its heart one day to discover what was within it. When he emerged he found himself in the Abyss, discovering that the Storm and the Abyss were linked, being the Storm is the Dragon's soul while the Abyss is the Dragon's body. The two were slowly trying to pull themselves together. While in the Storm Signon noticed that a strong will could affect it, so he designed the Church of the Storm to throw enough faith at it that it would be distracted, essentially, from linking up with its body. To make it spread quicker he made the church evil and called for the subjugation of other religions (The logic being that other faiths could pull believers away from the Church and thus endanger the world by reducing the pull of the faithful on the Storm).

Elex is correct on all accounts, though on the topic of Signon it would be more correct to say he started the religion that controlled the storm.

Spoiler:
It worked, by the way. In the RPG the storm has been so effected by the Church that it can no longer restore the dragon to life, even after being forced into its old body by the Medusan Lords.

Yes, he controlled (or at least influenced and then set up a worldwide conspiracy to control) The Storm. I've just never been clear on his motives - was he doing it for power, to bring down Cahallaeus and/or the Old Deverenian Gods, or to save the world? Signon could be a bigger hero than Syneri ever was or a rotten bastard who just happened to make plans that co-incidentally helped diffuse a terrible threat, and even after reading the RPG books, I don't feel the answer there is clear.

TallieSin was not designed to be Talsespinner (he's modeled after one version of Merlin's father, who might or might not be the devil in disguise). But the connection (evil, high-level Bards manipulating politics and breaking heroes in the Free Kingdoms, with similar names and broad-brimmed hats) was so close, someone in Story at the time (Laura?) noted they would be asking Bonefish if they could declare TallieSin an alias or homunculus or something. Then, both Bonefish and the story disappeared. At least, that's my recollection.

Unfinished,
The Medusan Exile

P.S. I still want to know about the Gambit Heroes.

P.P.S. Speaking of Gambits, did we ever find out what's happening on Medusan Lords' Gambit? I assume it's related to K'Hallek's little pep talk on the Hands, but what exactly did he and the other Lords (explicitly not aligned with Malrog) do?

He did it to stop the dragon from returning. He didn't need to make the Church to conquer Deverenia, he conquered to start his church.

As to him being a greater hero than Syneri, it depends what you mean. Syneri turned his back against his own race to follow his conscious and rubs elbows with his once enemy's gods. Signon simply did what he was honor bound to do by the pact his ancestor's signed with the knowledge he gained. But in Deverenia there is no greater hero than Signon, save perhaps the Eternal Emperor himself. In the elven forests Syneri is a traitor, not a hero. In the rag tag camps of the free kingdoms, Syneri is much higher than Signon (save perhaps with a few priests of the storm, Garth Drac comes to mind and perhaps the Paladins who know the truth about what Signon did, and how Modred changed everything).

Yeah Signon created the most evil church in the Accordlands (save maybe Bascaron worship) in order to save the world.

Over two years ago, the L&S fiction here revealed that Dukat sought the Cohorts' Ark.

Who said that Giehox's control ended?

Malrog's fate is explained over the course of three parts: one, two and three.

Good to know - thanks! (I wasn't about two years ago).

That only raises more questions!

While in the short term it may benefit him to do so, Teufeltiger generally thinks long term. An overt display like that could cause Deverenia to drop the hammer on the Isadran and seriously hurt his base of power. He's also very, very cautious. Why do you think he didn't kill the Dragon himself since he knew how and had the tools to do so at his disposal?

Fair point, though I'm still not sure why he didn't contact Isadran in any way. They had only just puzzled out he was back at all in late Epic, so it doesn't seem like he was using them for anything subtle or long-term, either.

Though I suppose with the God of Trickery, you can't ever expect them to be direct with their servants.

In Deaths, Jaqueline reads "an ancient scroll." What was it?

Havelin served mysterious powers. Was that the Ten or was it the Medusan Lords? (I believe this has been answered to be the Ten but I'm not certain.)

Can we expect anything from this thread? (I'm looking at you Kyn & Khilkhameth!)

Please some more fiction or just some explanation on what was planned etc. or tie up some loose ends.

:D
