Post [Hordes/Warmachine] The Elephant in the Room
So I finally took the plunge and bought into Hordes/Warmachine. You can probably guess by the title that I'm playing Skorne. 4 Armed Pachyderms were simply too cool to pass up. And the fluff for the Skorne race is pretty snazzy.

Anyone else play?

I bought into Warmachine when it first came out, playing Cryx. I'm going to have to catch up soon because some of the newer models look too damn cool to pass up. I just repainted my army the other day when I finished my last Blood Angels. Going to start painting my Goreshade, the Bastard soon.

I play circle and blindwater. Though I don't get to play too often now as the group has basically fallen apart.

Hey I have blood angels too. I also considered Khador before settling on Skorne, must be the red paint.

I play Cryx. My wife plays Circle/Cygnar depending on her mood.

I picked up Warmachine before Warhammer because I was thinking it would be cheaper, and then I got pulled into 40k by friends. Cryx taught me the value of highly mobile forces which my BA army was/is with their modded Rhino engines. Now I'm thinking of doing an all Jump Pack army with Astorath, tons of Assault Squads and jumpy DC.

I'm liking the looks of the Nightmare and Reaper warjacks. They might have to be my next 'machines purchases, though I don't even know it anyone plays in the area.

Love it, it's my number one game. I have Cygnar and Skorne.

We had almost 30 players at the store yesterday just playing casually :D

I also just recently got into this at Christmas time. We started playing Malifaux and that made us eye WM/H as another skirmish game to try out.

Let's just say it caught me hook, line, and sinker. I've been loving it. Played 8 games so far (5-3-0, woo!) with eIrusk for Khador.

I even started painting some of the models. Considering I own about 8,000+ points of Dwarfs in WFB (not to mention my Wood Elf, Nurgle Demons, Imperial Guard, and Blood Angels armies), and not a single full unit of painted dwarfs that's pretty spectacular. I just don't paint. But those badboy 'jacks are just aching to look awesome :)

When we started playing Malifaux, I also got on a terrain-making kick. Maybe I'll upload some pics...

I almost bought Khador over Skorne. But in the end, 4-armed pachyderms won out.
For by blood angels, all of my marines are fully painted and based. I'm still working on the vehicles though. This is my current project and I should finish by the end of March.
My Slaanesh based Chaos Space Marine army is fully painted.
My Warriors of Chaos WFB army has its paint scheme settled and its a [Censor: dog], every color effect I've chosen has like 7+ steps...ugh.
I have wood elves WFB, but they're still on the sprue.

As far as what I like about skorne, aside from the Titans, is they have a good mix of solid units that are tactically flexible.
They have what is possibly the hardest individual unit in the game in the Cataphract Cetrati, they're like Thunderhammer/stormshield terminators in 40K.

From what I've heard Skorne and Khador play pretty similarly to one another. So far I've definitely enjoyed eIrusk because he is highly maneuverable and has great unit buffs. I picked him because I'm a big Russian history buff and I love his Soviet motif.

So far I own:
- eIrusk
- pSorscha (haven't played)
- 1x Juggernaut
- 1x Destroyer
- 1x Drago (haven't played, only works out of Vladimir lists really, which my bro didn't know when he bought it for me)
- min. unit Iron Fang Pikemen (MVP of my army, these guys rock!)
- max. unit of Winter Guard Rife Corps (haven't played, proxy them as cheaper WG Infantry)
- 1x WG Mortar
- unit of Widowmakers
- Great Bears of Gallowswood
- 1x Manhunter
- 1x Widowmaker Marskman (haven't played yet)
- War Dog (haven't played, just bought him this week)

I think that's it.

We've mostly been playing 15pt games to learn the rules, of the 8 games I've played only 1 was more at 25pts. So far the IFP have proven to be a HUGE distraction. People can't help themselves but use an entire turn trying to deal with their ARM 18, Toughness. Cuz if you don't they'll hit you with CMA's with Crit: Knockdown.

I've only used the Great Bears twice now, but I think I may be in love. ARM 16 with 5 dmg boxes each, 11" threat range, Relentless Charge, Steady (coupled with Tough from eIrusk too), and if I buff them with Battle Lust they are each getting 2 attacks at MAT 8 doing 12+5d6 damage on the charge (average of 29.5 damage rolls). They obliterate anything they get to basically, and they're not easy to kill off.

I initially ran with the Destroyer to bounce eIrusk's Fire For Effect buff between it and the mortar, but it ended up just seeming to be a waste. The Destroyer would get like one shot before something entangled it in melee and I'd waste a bunch of focus switching the upkeepable buff around. I've switched to running the Juggernaut which with eIrusk's bond and Energizer is still pretty scary for a 7pt Heavy. And then I just keep FFE on the Mortar all game long more or less.

Next tactic I want to try is to run the Widowmakers with the Marksman and put Tactical Supremacy on the unit. Combined with Swift Hunter from the Marksman that will give them up to 5" advancement *after* shooting at RNG 14 with Sniper. Great shoot & scoop unit. They can devastate infantry or plink down the necessary damage boxes on a jack/beast to start crippling things.

I am sitting on 10 tactical marines and 5 scouts that need the arms painted for my Blood Angels. Also I had 5 Tacticals lying around spare that I am painting in the styles of different Pre-heresy Legions.
I also have the Khador starter box from a friend that started playing and quit.

Me too, I'm aiming to finish the entire Blood Angels chapter first though.
