You won't get a Kestrel short of buying or trading. I bought a gift card just to get Sceth.

Post Re: [spoiler] Ender of Times
Not to derail the thread, but has anyone who ordered the gift certificate actually received their promo warlords yet?

I know Don's a busy guy and mostly a one-man operation, but my emails dating back over a month have gone unanswered, and I haven't seen anything in the mail. I *do* have my code which came with the receipt. That's all.

Back on topic, I am skeptical of any 'support' offered by Arne in the future. Yes, he rallied the game post-AEG, and yes, he made an effort to keep it going - but the repeated mismanagement displays from "PI" do not give me any confidence that suddenly things will change.

Here's hoping someone has the time/inclination/know-how/financial backing to get Zinser to let the property go and be run better than it has in the past.

Though again, not holding my breath.

Is it possible for AEG to pick it back up? Note, not probable, but possible?
I'd think that after seeing so many people stick it out through the tough times and a total change in card distribution, i'm wondering if they'd like to pick it up with company finances and really try to do it properly. It would be appreciated.

It is absolutely possible. In truth it never stopped being their intellectual property, they just had a licensing agreement with Arne that allowed him to produce the game. Is is probable, absolutely not, from my understanding Thunderstone is MILES AND MILES more profitable than Warlord ever was and with the end of the licensing agreement AEG just got the rights to all the art produced under the IP while Arne had it (that's pretty standard).

If you want a CCG, go play magic or l5r, they're the only two that I think will be sticking around.

Yeah, they are pumping expansions out like crazy and people seem to like it a lot.

AGOT seems to be doing okay. :P But that isn't to say that we are going anywhere or that we will stop playing Warlord.

4E would get so stale without new cards coming out, even if its one a year
The reason I'm big on warlord right now is because the new COG and AL sets made 4E more diverse and interesting.

most of the LCGs of Fantasy Flight are pretty cool, and have really good mechanics. As for Thunderstone...not my cup of soup. Tomb was pretty fun the one time I played it, though.

Ordo promos still have not gone out if that tells you anything.

There are currently 5 CCGs that are profitable...and only two of them are not based on a successful licensed property. There will be only about two dozen or so people who will still carry the Warlord flag after this convention season.

Well, if we get permission to have fan based cards, i'm all for joining the design team. You can see some of my work in the Photoshop addicts section.
Or we could just make cards and kick them around in for-fun games. In which case, feel free to take mine.

No offense, but if we did end up with a fan run game it would most likely just keep the same design team since they've already proven their ability over the years of devotion to the community. Also I'm fairly confident people playing this game would like to keep a consistent group of people involved so they know who to turn to for help.

sorry, i assumed the design team was being paid by AEG then PI. With no money in it, i assumed there might be some changing of hands.
But, this is a lot of 'if's for right now.

 Arne paying someone for their work. That's funny.

Even back in AEG's time there was never any pay for being on the player design team.

A lot of the time the word player gets dropped, especially since Arne took over and most of the communication was shoehorned through Don, Carter and the rest of PDT.

If someone can pull of what I think is the impossible task and get Z to license the Warlord IP again, then I'm all for continuing my role as a design team member. But I think that's a real outside possibility.
